Home Projects to Tackle While Social Distancing

Feeling a little stir-crazy? Can’t shrug off the slump of unproductively? You’re not alone! You certainly don’t need to clean your house from top to bottom (that’s what we’re here for!) but sometimes it can help to choose a few small projects to tackle each week. If you’re not sure where to begin, start with something off of this list!

Let your child rearrange their bedroom! Help them move around the bigger pieces of furniture, but give them freedom to arrange shelves, toys, and decorations however they’d like.

Tackle the toy explosion: Box up a portion of toys to store for a season if you have too many, it will be an exciting change of scenery for your child in a few months!

Create a toy organization system with bins or baskets, so that your child knows where a toy belongs when they are done playing with it (consider having a basket in every high-traffic room, not just their bedroom!).

With the weather improving, keep yourself active by giving your yard and flowerbeds a little attention. This is a great time to start weeding, pruning and planting. Maybe even start that garden you haven’t gotten around to yet!

Tackle those junk drawers and closets one at a time. Make it your goal to go through one a day, if time allows! You can start a large donation pile to get rid of once social distancing precautions are no longer needed.

Scrub the grimy bottoms of bathtubs and sinks – soon they’ll sparkle like new!

Sort through pantry items, cleaning supplies, toiletries and medicine cabinets and discard any expired or unusable supplies.

Go through kitchen cupboards and get rid of any appliances and dishes you never use. Add them to your donation pile and enjoy the newfound space in your kitchen!
