A little bit about Sunshine…
Sunshine Gadbury is a dynamic and resourceful design industry advocate who brings cross-disciplinary experience and a modern eye to bear in her role as creative catalyst, marketer, project manager, and dealer.
For over a decade Sunshine served as Brand Manager & Associate for Dwell Media, originator of the leading modern design publication Dwell magazine. At Dwell she brought sought after modern brands together reaching a valuable audience across multi platforms — Dwell Magazine, Dwell on Design, Dwell Homes, Dwell.com, and in person events in Dwell’s largest markets (Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Chicago). She was responsible for brand management, coalescing brands and shaping ideas, further elevating Dwell Media through creative partnerships and collaboration.
Sunshine especially had a valuable role and impact at Dwell on Design in Los Angeles, which quickly became the leading US modern design event in the country. At Dwell on Design she was part of the team who launched the design platform in its early stages, growing the show to 30,000+ attendees from around the world each year before Dwell Media decided to sell the exhibition. Through this experience she cultivated her passion and knowledge of Modern design and has developed a taste for Timeless Modern which she prefers to use on projects whenever possible.
Throughout her 18 years in the design industry, Sunshine has worked with diverse clients that span the design spectrum from architecture, real estate development and design-build to furniture, product, and retail. Clients include Ligne Roset, Eames Office, B&B Italia, Cassina, Boffi, FLOS, Bend Goods, et el. Sunshine continually explores different ways of working with new and ever- evolving forms of design and challenges in Oklahoma City and beyond, taking her job seriously while encouraging open honest dialogue. In addition, her aesthetic also lends itself to her love of photography.
After her move in late 2011 from Venice, California to Oklahoma City when still working with Dwell Media she became the first person in Oklahoma City to convert a cargo shipping container on a budget, turning it into a sustainable retail conversion concept founding Perch’d — a modern design store located in Automobile Alley. This was recognized on the front page of The Oklahoman, local news stations and the community — paving the way for other container concepts that have since developed throughout the growing city.
Since then, after 5 years of owning her own retail shop and overseeing design projects, Perch’d became a virtual consumer and trade dealer for curated modern designs working with well known, coveted and quality modern brands which she utilizes in her working projects when possible. She continues to contribute to the magazine publishing world as a marketing consultant, but, her passion and strength remains at serving her personal and trade clients in the best way possible through design, project management and execution tailored to clients needs.
